In late April, the air is filled with the delicate fragrance of rapeseed flowers. Hosted by the Oil Crops Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, the 2026 National On-site Observation Event for Variety Demonstration and Evaluation of High-Yield and High-Oil Winter Rapeseed was successfully held in Tianmen City, Hubei Province. The event gathered participants from the entire industrial chain, including agricultural and rural authorities, research institutes, enterprise representatives and large-scale growers. Centering on the in-depth integration of improved seeds, advanced machinery and high-efficiency fertilizers, participants jointly explored new pathways for high-yield and high-oil agriculture development.

The observation event took place at the National Agricultural Technology Demonstration Base in Huangzui Village, Huangtan Town, Tianmen City, covering three major sections: national high-yield and high-oil winter rapeseed variety exhibition, integrated high-yield cultivation technology display, and new agricultural product presentation. A key trial on the high-efficiency, labor-saving application of rapeseed-specific fertilizers was carried out, with Yishizhuang special slow-release fertilizer for rapeseed selected as the core test product for demonstration and comparative experiments.

Developed under the national key research and development program and technically supported by Huazhong Agricultural University, Yishizhuang special slow-release fertilizer for rapeseed adopts controlled nutrient release technology to precisely meet the nutrient demand rule of rapeseed. It features one-time application with full-cycle nutrient supply. Compared with traditional fertilization methods, it reduces chemical fertilizer application by 15%–20% while increasing rapeseed yield by 5%–10%. Currently, the product has been widely promoted and applied in major winter rapeseed producing areas along the Yangtze River Basin, serving as a crucial technical support for the green and high-yield development of rapeseed cultivation.

The Tianmen observation event has built a solid communication bridge for fertilizer enterprises to connect in depth with large growers, agricultural promotion departments and scientific research institutions, which is of great significance for improving the quality and efficiency of the rapeseed industry and safeguarding national edible oil security.
