Yishizhuangs Precision Fertilization Technology Boosts Quality and Efficiency of Watermelon and Melon Industry

From May 9th to 11th, the "National Observation Seminar on High-Quality and Simplified Cultivation of Protected Watermelons and Training Course on Protected Watermelon Cultivation Technology of Hubei Province" was successfully held in Jingmen, Hubei Province. This conference brought together over 50 authoritative experts from inside and outside the province, including Academician Yu Jingquan of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Researcher Xu Yong (Chief Scientist of the National Watermelon and Melon Industry Technology System), and Professor Zhou Yanhong (Chief Expert of the National Key R&D Program). It also gathered representatives from scientific research institutions and agricultural enterprises in major watermelon-producing areas across the country.

As the core technical support unit for formula fertilization in the "Three Improvements and Three Enhancements" High-Quality and High-Efficiency Production Technology for Protected Watermelons and Melons, Hubei Yishizhuang Agricultural Technology Co., Ltd. focused on showcasing its watermelon and melon package fertilization solutions and the achievements of demonstration fields at the conference.

This technology was jointly developed by Yishizhuang and the team led by Professor Bie Zhilong from Huazhong Agricultural University. By studying the fertilizer requirement rules of watermelons and melons during their growth period, the technology scientifically allocates nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, and medium-micro elements. Combined with local fertilization patterns, it optimizes and adjusts the application strategies of base fertilizers and topdressing, and integrates a four-in-one fertilization model of "watermelon and melon formula fertilizer + bio-organic fertilizer + microbial bacterial solution + macro-element water-soluble fertilizer". This realizes a technological leap from traditional extensive fertilization to precise nutrient management.

Practice has shown that this technical solution can effectively solve industrial pain points such as watermelon continuous cropping obstacles, quality degradation, and unstable yield, and achieve simplified cultivation. Five consecutive years of experiments have demonstrated that with the application of this solution, the per-mu yield of watermelons and melons has increased by more than 10%, the central sugar content and edge sugar content have increased by more than 7%, and the economic benefits have been significantly improved.

This conference provided important technical support for the high-quality development of the national watermelon and melon industry. As a key part of the "Three Improvements and Three Enhancements" (improving greenhouse structure, improving simplified cultivation, improving water and fertilizer management; advancing market launch, increasing yield, improving quality), Yishizhuang's fertilization solution demonstrated the enterprise's important role in the development of new-quality agricultural productive forces.
