The Working Meeting of the National Citrus Double Reduction Project was Held at Yishizhuang

On December 18, 2019, the 2019 Working Meeting and Mid - term Inspection Meeting of the National Key Research and Development Program "Research and Application of Key Technologies for Reducing the Application of Chemical Fertilizers and Pesticides in Citrus and Increasing Efficiency (2017YFD0202001)", led and presided over by Professor Hu Chengxiao from Huazhong Agricultural University, was successfully held in Yichang. This meeting was hosted by Huazhong Agricultural University and undertaken by Hubei Yishizhuang Agricultural Technology Co., Ltd. Relevant project staff, members of the project implementation expert group, and project backbones participated in the meeting.

Yichang City, Hubei Province, has a long history of citrus production. It is one of the birthplaces of citrus, with numerous excellent varieties, and enjoys the titles of "Hometown of Early - Maturing Citrus in China" and "Hometown of Citrus in China". As early as 2015, Yichang began to implement the action goal of achieving zero growth in the application of chemical fertilizers and pesticides in China by 2020, and innovatively integrated key technologies for reducing the application of chemical fertilizers and pesticides and increasing efficiency. The selection of Yichang as the venue for this National Citrus "Double Reduction" Project Working Meeting also shows recognition of the relevant work.

The meeting was presided over by Professor Hu Chengxiao, the project leader from Huazhong Agricultural University. Liu Zufeng, the chairman of Hubei Yishizhuang Agricultural Technology Co., Ltd., delivered a welcome speech on behalf of the meeting - undertaking unit. Subsequently, the project implementation experts successively reported on the completion of the target tasks of each project in 2019, the research and development, demonstration and promotion of key technologies, the progress and achievements made in reducing the application of chemical fertilizers and pesticides, etc. They also put forward the problems encountered in the project implementation and planned and arranged the work plan for 2020. The project team leaders commented on the reported content, affirmed the completion of the project tasks, and suggested accelerating the use of funds, improving research efficiency, and integrating the key technologies for reducing fertilizer and pesticide use, improving quality and increasing efficiency as soon as possible.

At the end of the meeting, Deng Tianming, a technician from Hubei Yishizhuang Company, reported on the application effect of the special fertilizer for citrus developed by the team of Professor Hu Chengxiao from Huazhong Agricultural University and exclusively produced by Hubei Yishizhuang Agricultural Technology Co., Ltd. across the country. He also showed the work done in reducing the application of chemical fertilizers and increasing efficiency in recent years through a video, leaving a deep impression on the participating experts. In terms of reducing chemical fertilizers and replacing them with organic fertilizers, Hubei Yishizhuang, combined with a series of products and technologies such as special fertilizers for citrus and bio - organic fertilizers, has realized three production technology models: "organic fertilizer + formula fertilizer", "organic fertilizer + integrated water and fertilizer", and "fruit (vegetable, tea) - biogas - livestock". In some experimental and demonstration areas, the amount of chemical fertilizers replaced by organic fertilizers for citrus has approached 20%, achieving the action goal of reducing fertilizer use and increasing efficiency.

The holding of this meeting condensed the achievements and strengthened the project tasks, taking another step forward in implementing the specific action goals of citrus "double reduction".
