Potatoes are the fourth most important food crop globally and are deeply loved by people. Ulanqab is an important production base for potato seeds, commercial potatoes, and potatoes specially used for processing in China. The planting area in the whole city has always remained stable at around 4 million mu. The total output of fresh potatoes reaches 4.5 million tons. It is truly worthy of the name "The Potato Capital of China".

From September 8th to 10th, the "2019 China · Ulanqab Potato Green Development and Scientific and Technological Innovation Conference" jointly organized by the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, the People's Government of Ulanqab City, the Department of Agriculture and Animal Husbandry of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, and the National Potato Industry Scientific and Technological Innovation Alliance was held in Ulanqab City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. More than 400 people participated in this conference, including local government leaders, representatives of relevant departments, project participating units, director units of the National Potato Industry Scientific and Technological Innovation Alliance, potato enterprises across the country, cooperatives, and large-scale potato growers. Hubei Yishizhuang Agricultural Technology Co., Ltd., as a manufacturer of special slow and controlled release fertilizers for potatoes, was invited to participate in this conference.
In order to explore the optimal planting schemes in different main production areas, different ecological regions, and regions with different levels of economic development, the comprehensive demonstration base for potato green development has demonstrated seven core technologies through integration, including new green and high-quality varieties, the breeding and application of healthy virus-free potato seeds, precise micro-irrigation with the integration of water and fertilizer, green prevention and control of diseases and pests, remote digital monitoring by remote sensing, full-process mechanization, and processing of potatoes into staple foods, as well as the optimized and improved cultivation technology for reducing the application of chemical fertilizers and increasing efficiency in potato cultivation.
In China, the excessive application of chemical fertilizers is severe, and the utilization rate of fertilizers is low. The amount of fertilizers used for fruits and vegetables is 2 to 4 times that of the world average. Previous studies have found that the utilization rate of fertilizers for potatoes is generally low, resulting in certain waste, affecting the soil environment, and the yield and quality cannot develop stably.
Regarding the issue of reducing fertilizer application and increasing efficiency, the expert team unanimously believes that corresponding nutrient management strategies should be formulated in different regions, and targeted "weight loss" should be carried out for the soil, balancing and optimizing the proportion of trace elements in the soil to meet the different nutrient needs of potatoes at various growth stages. Hubei Yishizhuang Company, in collaboration with the potato expert team, has developed special formula fertilizers that are more suitable for the growth of local potatoes according to the nutrient needs of the crops, the nutrient content of the soil, and the characteristics of soil fertility supply. This can effectively improve the utilization rate of fertilizers, improve the quality of crops, increase the yield, and enhance soil fertility.

The field demonstration of Yishizhuang's sulfur-based special slow and controlled release fertilizer for potatoes with a nutrient content of 40% has achieved certain results this time.
Yishizhuang stays true to its original aspiration, forges ahead with determination, and contributes to the green development of China's potato industry.
